A message from Fred Lipp
Dear Friends,
As founding President of CASF I don't get a penny for my work. After thirty five years in the ministry (for the Unitarian Universalist Church), my wife and I live on Social Security and a little savings. But to put a new twist on an old poem, "Ah,
my foes, and oh, my friends - what a lovely light!" It is impossible
to put a monetary value on the joy I receive by working for CASF.
My children's book, 'The
Caged Birds of Phnom Penh' opened my eyes to the educational needs
of girls in Cambodia. While I am proud that my book was named a Notable
Books for a Global Society by the International Reading Association,
the real excitement was discovering how the meaning of life is becoming
rooted in a world consciousness. The time has come when thinking about
the world is no longer relevant without thinking of the emerging nations.
We must seriously consider the need for clean water, good health care,
basic education and, finally, equal disbursement of the wealth of the
world.
Change the world, one child at a time.
The CAMBODIAN ARTS AND SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION is doing this in its
own particular way.
What can you do to help?
- Give online. It's fast, secure, and an easy way
to make a difference in the life of child.
- Donate frequent flyer miles to CASF to help cover our transportation
costs to Cambodia.
- Transfer securities that have appreciated in value into our non-profit
Charles Schwab Investment Account.
- Add to our new restricted medical fund that provides health care
for our students.
I hope you will contact us for more
information.
CASF is registered with the state of Maine as a non-profit organization
under the IRS - 501(c)(3) and all our documents are in the public domain.
Over 87% of contributions go directly to the students. As stated earlier,
no one working for CASF in the United States receives any money. Our coordinator
in Phnom Penh receives a small stipend per month. We currently support
over 250 students. I think you'll agree that not many organizations can
boast this record having begun only a few years ago with two students and
$50.
We hope you will consider helping CASF make the future brighter for
some girls at risk in Cambodia, and, consequently, better for the whole
country.
With all good wishes and many thanks for your support,
Fred Lipp
