Kandal

The Kandal Individual Pupil Program (IPP) started in October 2002.  It currently supports 15 students – all poor and at-risk girls – who attend approximately 5 different schools in Kandal Province.  The Kandal IPP is located approximately 30 minutes southwest of Phnom Penh and is overseen by two female Educational Counselors (ECs).  One of the ECs a community leader while the other is a teacher in the local school.  Both women serve as role models and mentors to our students.

Ages of our students in the Kandal program range from 12 to 18.  All are currently in grades 7 through 12 at their local schools.  Each student in the Kandal IPP also takes English classes from a recent high school graduate who volunteers their time to work with our students.  One of our Kandal students, Chamnam Venda is featured on our Students Profile Page.  Every student’s individual need is continually assessed to ensure that they receive enough support to study as they wish.  Current scholarships for students in the Kandal IPP range from $7.50 to $20 per month and are set by our Program Director in Phnom Penh.
