Mondolkiri

The Mondolkiri Individual Pupil Program started in June 2002.  Mondolkiri (translation: ‘Middle of the Mountains’) is a remote province in the far east of Cambodia, approximately 200 miles and 11 hours from Phnom Penh by car.  The Mondolkiri IPP currently supports 18 students – all poor and at-risk girls – who attend 8 different schools around the capital city of Sen Monorom.  Our students in Mondolkiri belong to the P’Nong ethnic minority which is group of people indigenous to this region of Cambodia.  For many reasons, P’Nong people have been at a particular disadvantage in Cambodian society. CASF is the first organization of its kind doing work in Mondolkiri Province, Cambodia.

Ages of our students in the Mondolkiri program range from 14 to 20.  All are currently in grades 3 through 12 at their local schools.  In addition to providing educational support to individual children, CASF also maintains an office in Mondolkiri that provides housing for several students, as well as a library for community use.  CASF also provides support to a small school in a Androng Kra Long, a remote jungle village that has never before had a school.  Every student’s individual need is continually assessed to ensure that they receive enough support to study as they wish.  Current scholarships for students in the Mondolkiri IPP range from $10 to $15 per month and are set by our Program Director in Phnom Penh
