Individual Pupil Programs;
Skun
Our Program in Skun village is one of two Individual Pupil Programs (IPPs) we run in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. Started in January 2003, the Skun IPP currently supports 6 students – all poor and at-risk girls – who attend 4 different local area schools. Skun is located about 1.5 hours northeast of Phnom Penh and is almost entirely surrounded by water during the rainy season which last from July to November every year.
Ages of our students in the Skun IPP range from 13 to 20. All are currently in grades 6 through 11 at their local schools. One of our students in the Skun IPP, Ros Sarom, was selling fermented palm juice under a bridge in Phnom Penh before becoming a CASF student. Now, three years later, she is #1 in her class and spends her free time teaching English to other children in her village. One of our Skun students, Nou Thenthilen is featured on our Student Profile Page. Every student’s individual need is continually assessed to ensure that they receive enough support to study as they wish. Current scholarships for students in the Skun IPP range from $10 to $25 per month and are set by our Program Director in Phnom Penh.
