Vanda

Vanda (age 17) is a student in the 11th grade in the Kandal IPP.  She became a CASF student in 2003 when in the 6th grade. Currently, Vanda ranks #2 in her class of 54 which she says has only been possible because of CASF’s continued support.

Vanda likes both physics and math and is not sure if she wants to be a teacher or a doctor when she grows up. Before becoming a CASF student, her living condition was very poor as the only income her family had was the money her mother earned selling tamarind leaves to support the family. At the time, there was only money for her brother to attend school, but now they both can go to school.  Vanda uses her money to pay for extra academic support, English classes and to purchase school supplies and snacks during the day.  Vanda will be taking the 9th grade standardized test at the end of this school year which, if she passes, will allow her to enter 10th grade.  Vanda will have to study very hard this year to pass this test.  Please join us in wishing her luck!
